Translation certificate generator

Every document in another language that you send to USCIS needs a full English translation and a signed statement from the translator. Fill in the details to make that statement, then print it, sign it and attach it to the translation.

What USCIS requires. Under 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3), the translator must certify that the English translation is complete and accurate, and that they are competent to translate from the other language into English. This tool writes a statement covering both points. It does not translate anything, and it does not check the translation. General information, not legal advice.

Name it clearly, for example: “the birth certificate of Maria Lopez, issued in Lima, Peru, 1 page”. Make one statement for each document.

How to use it

  1. Translate the whole document into English, including stamps, seals and handwritten notes.
  2. Print this statement, and have the translator sign and date it.
  3. Send a copy of the original document, the English translation and the signed statement together.
  4. Keep copies of everything for your records.

See the other documents you need with the document checklist, and read more in certified translations for USCIS.
