Is my priority date current?
Pick your family visa category and country, enter your priority date, and see right away whether it is current in the latest Visa Bulletin. Green means current. Red means not yet.
General information only, not legal advice. “Current” only means a visa number is available for your priority date in that month’s bulletin. It doesn’t mean your case is approved, and it doesn’t say what you can file. Always confirm with the official Visa Bulletin.

How it works
Each month the U.S. Department of State publishes a Visa Bulletin with a cutoff date for every category and country. If your priority date is earlier than the cutoff, a visa is available that month. A “C” in the chart means current for everyone in that category. This tool compares your date with those cutoffs. The Department of State usually publishes next month’s bulletin in the second half of the month, before it takes effect. When the next bulletin is already out, we also show what it means for your date and when it starts. Nothing you enter is sent anywhere.
Good to know
- Cutoff dates change every month. They can move forward, stay still, or move backward.
- Immediate relatives of U.S. citizens (spouses, parents, and unmarried children under 21) don’t have a priority date wait, so this tool doesn’t apply to them.
- For F2A, the bulletin has extra notes about which applicants are exempt from the per-country limit. Read the notes in the official bulletin.
- This tool covers family-sponsored categories only. Employment-based categories are not included yet.
